Tall, Dark & “Tongue-Some”

Clearwater, FL (April 2008) - The Newfoundlands “took the heat” and were winners of the Large Breed Dog Race at downtown Clearwater’s 3rd Annual Spring Pet Fair. lthough it was not one of the competing categories, I additionally voted this Dynamic Duo the “Letting-It-All-Hang-Out” Award on this unusually warm April day. Unfortunately, they were too "tongue-tired” for comment.

On Saturday April 12th, animal lovers, pet owners and pet care providers came from near and far to attend the 3rd Annual Spring Pet Fair. The event brought some of the community’s most competitive pets, owners and animal lovers to Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District. The event took place on the beautiful new Cleveland Streetscape which was closed off to automobile traffic specifically for the event) in Downtown Clearwater.

Clearwater, FL (April 8, 2009) - Legally Blonde, the musical, manages to capture the feel of Legally Blonde, the movie. It is a silly, carefree piece of theatre that manages to leave you fulfilled, satisfied and quite entertained at the end of it, while including a positive message that is delivered through silly means.

The musical includes all of the familiar and important moments of the movie, such as Elle's videotape to get into Harvard, the scene where she's tricked into dressing like a Playboy bunny and arrives at a classy party and the hunky UPS guy. However, it still manages to stand on its own as its own piece. It's enjoyable if you've seen the movie and still enjoyable if you haven't.

Clearwater, FL - On March 21st, Artists in Action International (AIAI) celebrated their anniversary in addition to having a Grand Opening of their new Mission: Beautification Gallery space located conveniently downtown at 400 Cleveland Street.

The Mission: Beautification Gallery provides an opportunity for local artists to be seen. A few people I talked to had this as their first showing of artwork. Like Andrejas Lazdins, who found out about AIAI through Craigslist. He attended The International Academy of Design and Technology and does photographic and graffiti art, but this is his first time displaying his artwork.

Pam Ryan Anderson Clearwater, FL ( April 1, 2009) -  For the last few months, I’ve been experiencing quite a different real estate market than the prior 18 months.  Buyers are back, and THAT makes all the difference in the world. In the last three months, I’ve got almost as many properties under contract already as I sold for the entire year in 2008!

This is the very best time to buy – prices are as low as they are probably going to go, and interest rates are also very low.  The selection is amazing, and I really think this is an opportunity to jump on.

Sure, it takes persistence and decent credit, but that is what I’d expect after the nightmare the banks have been experiencing recently.  Too many lenders made money too easy to get, and that is one of the problems that caused the debacle we’ve all been witnessing.  Now we’re all going to suffer for that.  However, please do not believe the

CRISIS BUSTER TIPS for Business Owners and Sales Professionals

How to negotiate your way through rough times if your life depends on selling something – Part One

1. DISAGREE

“Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.” – Mahatma Gandhi
You will find that people who continue to do well during challenging times are not luckier or stronger or even smarter.  They are mostly more persistent and they refuse to lose. In other words, they disagree. The best examples are patients who were affected by some “incurable” cancer and yet recovered – against all medical expectations. The only common denominator that could be found in these people was exactly that: they disagreed with giving up!

You can make your own future and you can win the battles of life to the degree that you have the guts to disagree. So remember this principle: When trouble arises, it is just a test of your ability and willingness to make things go right. Just disagree!

Clearwater, FL (Feb. 2009) - The atmosphere was set for a rematch of the World Series in front of a record crowd of 10,270 at Bright House Field on Saturday afternoon. There was a brisk home-run wind blowing out to left and temperatures in the upper 70’s. It only seems like yesterday (October) when these two teams met last for game number 5 in Philly in which the playing conditions were 30 degrees cooler than Saturday’s sun-basking afternoon.

Clearwater Gas System Lowers Natural Gas Rates - - 63% Savings Over Electricity

CLEARWATER, FL (March 3, 2009) - Clearwater Gas System has announced a further reduction in residential natural gas rates effective with March 1, 2009 bills. This reduction from $1.75 to $1.58 per therm means that a typical residential natural gas appliance will operate at a 63% savings versus its electric counterpart.

Natural gas prices continue to decline during February despite some very cold weather across the country. As a result, the market price of natural gas decreased significantly, and Clearwater Gas System is passing those projected savings onto our customers.

Customers may also qualify for additional energy assistance by applying to the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  LIHEAP provides energy assistance to low-income individuals and families who meet the program's eligibility requirements. Pinellas residents may contact the Urban League at (727) 327-0977 and Pasco residents may contact Mid Florida Community Services in New Port Richey at (727) 845-7350 to apply for assistance.
