Peter Gillham’s Nutrition Center on Cleveland Street

Clearwater’s rebirth of their main street has inspired many of its local businesses to do some remodeling of their own. In conjunction with this renaissance, Peter Gillham’s Nutrition Center has undergone some recent changes; including a new management team and a new look for the store.

In the past couple of years, the face of Clearwater has changed a great deal. From the streetscape on Cleveland to the two new high-rise condominium complexes, it is clear to see that the future of this city is bright.

“We have seen this city go through many positive changes since the restoration and Main Street Project began and we want to be part of the Downtown Clearwater streetscape. We love this city and the people in it. With all of the improvements going on around us, we couldn’t help but be inspired to upgrade our business to best serve the city and its population,” says Sarah Derr, one of the new managers at Peter Gillham’s store.

Local nutritional consultant, Shelley Jaffe, has been brought in to help manage the store, bringing over 14 years of practical hands-on nutritional experience to enhance the already sterling reputation of the Gillham name. Since Mr. Gillham is a nutrition and health pioneer, customers coming into the store expect to find knowledgeable personnel who can readily answer their questions and help them find the products they need. As a certified professional, Ms. Jaffe fills this need.

Customers will be able to get help on anything from a simple question to getting a full nutritional evaluation.  Plans are in the works to offer free nutritional and health seminars in the near future.

“I have personally used Peter’s products for over 17 years, as well as recommending them to my clients. I truly enjoy what I do as a nutritional consultant and am proud to be managing the store,” Shelley stated.

In order to bring about the correct transformation, the Gillham staff focused their energies on the core concept of the company. Over the years, many miscellaneous products were included in the inventory that had nothing to do with health and nutrition. They removed those items from the sales floor and emphasized those world-class nutritional products that Peter has spent years developing.

“We are focusing on health and nutrition and finding better ways to service our customers. We had many miscellaneous items which simply didn’t really fit into the plans for the remodel of the store, such as various sundries like toilet paper.  Rather than putting them on sale, we decided to donate them to RCS Food Pantry, the largest distributor of food in Pinellas County, as another means to help our community,” said Sarah.

Both Sarah and Shelley have been busy surveying customers to see what other changes they would like to see and are implementing them where appropriate.

“We think it is important for businesses to be an integral part of their community. Part of that is by offering them the products and services they need and want.  It also means giving back what we can to help others,” say both Sarah and Shelley.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 to 3:00. Peter Gillham’s Nutrition Center is located on 533 Cleveland Street in Downtown Clearwater.
