City of Clearwater Rewarding Artist for Baseball Themed Banners

CLEARWATER, FL  December 12, 2008 - The City of Clearwater is offering $100 honorariums, cash prizes and gift certificates to Tampa Bay area artists who create baseball-themed banner artworks for display on downtown lamp posts The designs will be on display from February to April 2009 and will celebrate the return of Spring Training baseball and Clearwater's 60 year relationship with the Philadelphia Phillies.  

Local artists who are 18 or older can submit digital designs that incorporate baseball-related subject matter that can be reproduced on the vinyl banners. Artwork may not contain text or team logos. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m., Jan. 9 and may be delivered in person or mailed to Clearwater Parks & Recreation Department, 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater, Florida 33756-5520.

The banners, sponsored by Clearwater's Public Art and Design program, are an integral part of downtown's Cleveland Street District outdoor art gallery.
