Aqualea and Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa celebrate topping out with local dignitaries

Luxury resort and condominiums to be centerpiece of Clearwater’s Beach Walk project

Clearwater, FL.   December 18, 2008 – Today, city officials, developers and Hyatt executives gathered to celebrate the rise of Clearwater’s newest full-scale resort, Aqualea and Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. The “topping out” provided a dramatic preview of the luxury resort condominium hotel being touted as the centerpiece of the city’s highly acclaimed Beach Walk revitalization project.

“Clearwater Beach is positioned to become one of the country’s most attractive vacation destinations, and we are extremely proud to be part of its renaissance,” said Neil Rauenhorst, President and CEO of NJR Development Co. LLC, and developer of the project. “Aqualea and Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa will bring an elevated level of luxury and grandeur to the area that will be virtually unsurpassed on Florida’s Gulf Coast beaches.”

Topping out is a major construction milestone that commemorates the structural completion of a building.

“Following tradition, we raised an evergreen tree to the top beam on Aqualea’s 17th story as a symbol of growth and good luck,” said Rauenhorst. “We’re fortunate to be on track with our growth and are looking forward to welcoming guests and residents next December.”

Throughout 2009, construction efforts will center around completing the building’s exterior, infrastructure, landscaping and interior finishes. Aqualea, a 920,000 square-foot mixed-use complex, will contain the 250-suite Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa, 18 ultra luxurious private residences and a 750-space parking garage as well as shops and restaurants along Clearwater’s Beach Walk, a $35 million revitalization project bringing a new atmosphere for shopping, dining and socializing to the area.

The resort will blend tropical elegance and style and will feature personalized service, luxurious accommodations and upscale amenities including two swimming pools, the White Orchid Beach Club, a premier spa and fitness center, a Hyatt signature restaurant, beach concession area and private air-conditioned poolside cabanas.

The project has already brought 200 construction jobs to the area and Hyatt plans to add 160 more positions as the resort gears up to open next year.

Rauenhorst was joined at the event by City of Clearwater Mayor Frank V. Hibbard, Paul Tang, Global Hyatt Corporation’s Senior General Manager for the Northeast Region, and other public figures.
