So if you follow these terms, you will understand that an Appraised Value is quite different than an Assessed Value. I’ve discovered this is a very common misunderstanding. When you get your tax bill, it is important to understand what the different terms mean.

So I asked what someone does if they think they’re being overcharged for real estate taxes. The next Trim Notices will be mailed out in August. On the Trim Notice there are instructions about how to file a
petition, along with the deadline for a petition. If you feel that you are paying too much in taxes, that’s the time to query it.
