Winter the DolphinClearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) will launch of a new speaker series on Thursday, October 8. The first presentation, “All About Dolphins and More About Winter,” will include an in-depth look at how dolphins live, feed and breed in the wild. It will explore what we need to know in order to help them survive in the wild. CMA staff will also share how this organization works around the clock to rescue, rehabilitate and release animals back into the wild. Staff members will also discuss the story of Winter, a young dolphin who survived after losing her natural tail.

Winter the dolphin lost her tail after it got caught in a crab trap line. Against all odds, she survived and was later fitted with a prosthetic tail, which is helping her learn to swim like other dolphins. Winter has become an inspiration to people all over the world and serves as a great reminder that people can do anything they put their mind toGuests will be able to hold Winter’s actual prosthetic tail!

The Thursday, October 8 event will include the following:

6 p.m. – Snacks/Welcome

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Presentations by CMA’s Director of Education Joe Malo, Director of Animal Care Diane Young and Head Trainer Abby Stone

7:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Question and Answer Session
