Micheal SpurlockTampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Receiver Micheal Spurlock was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 16 by the National Football League on December 29th. This marks the 26th time, including the third this season, that a Buccaneer has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He is also the third different return man for the Buccaneers to win the award this season.

The Special Teams Player of the Week honor comes after Spurlock recorded a 77-yard punt return for a touchdown, the fifth-longest in team history during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-17 overtime victory at New Orleans. Spurlock finished the game with two punt returns for 80 yards and the touchdown, as well as five kickoff returns for 116 yards, totaling 196 return yards on the day.

Spurlock, who recorded the first-ever kickoff return for a touchdown in team history in 2007, is now just the second player in team history to record both a kickoff and punt return for touchdowns, joining RB/KR Clifton Smith. Spurlock was signed prior to the Saints game, as both previous return men Smith and WR Sammie Stroughter were on Injured Reserve.
