APRIL 19TH AS CLEARWATER POETRY DAY

Little Book Of Cleveland Street Poetry to be released at the city’s First Downtown Clearwater Poetry Walk in celebration of the proclamation

On Thursday the 17th of April, the Mayor of Clearwater will sign a proclamation declaring April 19th as Clearwater Poetry Day.  The first Downtown Clearwater Poetry Walk will be held on April 19th and will honor local poets by releasing “The Little Book of Cleveland Street Poetry” at the walk.

The walk will start at 1:00pm at Jamba Juice located at 432 E. Cleveland Street and will travel along Cleveland Street with readings at local businesses along the way.  Admission is free.

April is National Poetry month, and with a history rich in this great art form, it only makes sense for the city to host their own celebration.  The Youth for Human Rights International Poet Laureate Larry Jaffe and celebrated poet Stazja Mc Fadyen call Clearwater home, along with many other professionals and amateurs, including poets from local businesses and City Hall.   At this walk people will enjoy an eclectic mix of poetry and poets alike in very engaging and entertaining readings.

An open mike poetry reading will be taking place following the walk at Pangea International Café starting at 6:00pm.  This gives people from all over the area an opportunity to share their work. The café is located at 34 N. Fort Harrison Avenue.
