Clearwater ThreshersPedro Martinez is scheduled to pitch for the Clearwater Threshers this Sunday at Bright House Field.  The game is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start with the gates opening at 3:00 pm.
 
Martinez, 37, finalized a one-year contract for $1 million last Wednesday with the Philadelphia Phillies that includes up to $1.5 million in incentives.  After signing, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a mild right shoulder strain.

Black Crowes at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FloridaThe Black Crowes have sold more than 20 million albums including their 1990 debut album Shake Your Money Maker which sold more than three million copies on the strength of the singles Hard to Handle, She Talks to Angels and Jealous Again.  The Crowes released their second album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion in 1992.  The record debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums.  The effort spawned the singles Remedy and Thorn in My Pride, which broke the Billboard Top 100 singles chart.  In 1994, the band offered up Amorica, which reached Gold.  Last year, they released Warpaint, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200.  Their new album, Before the Frost…Until the Freeze, is scheduled to be released on September 1st of this year.

Clearwater, FL, July 20, 2009 - The Clearwater Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) is continuing their mission of bringing the business community together, this time focusing on women.  The CRCC is having their upcoming Women's Expo on August 5, 2009 from 9am-2pm to bring their women-owned businesses, as well as women professionals of the business community, the ability to connect to each other, a needed activity in today's business environment.  The event will be hosted at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Clearwater Beach.  Dr. Joedrecka Brown of Morton Plant Mease Primary Care is one of the guest speakers.

The Humane Society of PinellasBark at the Ballpark is back! Following the success of the Humane Society of Pinellas’s annual Bark at the Ballpark events, the society is announcing their first ever Bark at the Ball Park III.

The event will take place on Friday, August 21st at Bright House Field (601 Coachman Road, Clearwater) starting at 6:00pm when the gates open. At 7:00pm, there will be a game between the Clearwater Threshers and the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Alejandro On the 24th of June, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce held an economic forecasting summit entitled “Banking on your Business,” featuring the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Bankers Association (FBA), Alejandro “Alex” Sanchez, who predicted an economic upturn in the near future. “Things are getting better,” he said repeatedly throughout his speech.

Joy Gendusa Cuts the Ribbon on her New PostcardMania Building On June 19th, seven employees of PostcardMania danced to “Let’s Get Postcarded in Here,” a take on the Black Eyed Peas’ hit song, entertaining the guests gathered in the green and purple offices of PostcardMania’s brand new building, just before Joy Gendusa, the tall and vivacious CEO and founder of PostcardMania announced, “I am the luckiest CEO on earth!”

Eyes stayed glued as Paul Wilson, singer extraordinaire, weaved his way through the crowd to mount the stage singing, “Luck Be a Lady,” followed by “New York, New York.” It was in this spectacular fashion that the Sunscreen Film Festival Concert began on the evening of June 20th, 2009 at the recently refurbished hotel at 210 S. Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater.
