The United Nations is dedicating a year to young people by proclaiming 2010 the “International Year of Youth”. But Youth for Human Rights Florida and several local schools are a step ahead of the game in youth-driven human rights advocacy. Washburn Academy, Delphi Academy Florida and Clearwater Academy International were all awarded “YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS” for not only teaching human rights, but also involving their students in activities to help them understand how human rights are a part of our world.

Writing Contest - Through Nov. 30

Writing ContestDelphi Academy of Florida is hosting a writing contest for writers from around the world.  There are two main sections: Science Fiction/Fantasy (1000 word max) and a 6 word short story (the best example of this is Hemingway’s “For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn.”).

Carlos Colombian international soccer legend, MLS Allstar and local Tampa Bay resident, Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, will captain the winning Galactic Masters soccer team against an ALL-World Eleven of international soccer stars during the Galactics International Soccer Festival 2007 on Saturday December 1, 2007 at the excellent facilities of Clearwater High School. Delphi AcademyTM of Florida is sponsoring this premier community event to bring international soccer to local residents bridging social divides through the promotion of sport as a route to personal achievement and team success.
