Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3

Ironman - Photo by Chris ConnellThe Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 took place in Clearwater on November 14th, challenging the passion, determination and endurance of 1,438 triathletes competing for a $90,000 purse. To compete in the event, triathletes first had to qualify in one of more than 30 Ironman 70.3’s held around the world.

Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 courseIronman has announced modifications to the 2009 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 course.  The fourth annual event will take place on Saturday, November 14th in Clearwater, Florida.

Professional athletes will compete for a $100,000 prize purse.  The top 10 professional male and female finishers and each age group champion will automatically qualify for the 2010 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.

The Super Boat Races will come to Clearwater Beach this OctoberThe 1st Annual Clearwater Super Boat National Championship will be held on Clearwater Beach October 2nd – 4th.

Former Clearwater Mayor Brian Aungst, who is also the Race Chairman, is excited about the event coming to town “I think it’ll be a great event for the area,” he says. “It’s a family event, it’s a fun event.” He is looking forward to the races becoming an annual event, as well as getting to show off both the completed Beach Walk project on South Clearwater Beach, and the beautiful Gulf of Mexico view to incoming visitors. “It’s a great time to bring people here,” he says.

Take the Iron Girl Challenge

Iron Girl ChallengeJoin the Iron Girl Team for the fifth annual Aflac Iron Girl 10K and 5K Run/Walk on April 5, 2008.  The longest-standing event in the Aflac Iron Girl National Series will take athletes along a waterfront course in Clearwater, Fla., one of the world’s most-visited beach destinations.  Featuring a picturesque run over the Memorial Causeway and a turn-around point at the well-known Pier 60, this course is the perfect combination of challenge and fun.  Seasoned athletes and novices alike will appreciate the scenery and ideal racing conditions.
