Roger Daltrey of The Who Comes to Ruth Eckerd HallTickets for Roger Daltrey’s “Use It or Lose It Tour” will come to Ruth Eckerd Hall on November 30th at 8:00pm.  Tickets are on sale now.

As lead singer for The Who, he’s lent his Olympian pipes to a staggering array of enduring rock ‘n’ roll anthems.  And with plans for the band’s next tour still up in the air, Daltrey decided a solo jaunt – his first since 1985 – would be just the thing  “to keep my voice in trim, so I’ll be ready,” he explains.  “Those songs demand a lot of voice!”

Do the Stingray Shuffle!

Do the stingray shuffle while at the beach this summerThe City of Clearwater would like to remind you to do the Stingray Shuffle. The peak of stingray season May through October, so when visiting the beach, please be aware that stingrays might be in the water. To make sure you don’t accidentally step on one and get stung, shuffle your feet, instead of walking through the water. This causes a disturbance in the sand that causes the stingrays to move away.

Abe Moussa with two of Abe's Mugs Grill & Bar Waitresses - Photo by Simaen SkolfieldOn July 21st, Abe Moussa, the owner of the newly renamed Abe’s Mugs Grill & Bar (formerly Mugs and Jugs) cut the ribbon to honor the name change and celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Missouri Avenue restaurant.

Abe Moussa began his restaurant career as a dishwasher at Sweetwaters, where he worked his way up to manager. He had set a goal, however, to own his own business by the time he was 30. When he turned 29, he found “Mugs and Jugs.” Unable to pay for the place at first, Moussa worked for the owner for six months to make the down payment. Since he took over Mugs and Jugs in 1998, Moussa has managed to turn the hole-in-the-wall into a successful, respectable chain of sports bars.

Youth Perform for Human Rights

Annie_Hands_Up_High.jpgEntertaining, spectacular and remarkable are just a few of the words to describe the stage filled with youth from ages 2 to 17, in the Broadway production of “Annie Jr.” presented by International Youth Theater at the Francis Wilson Playhouse Theater, on August 8, with proceeds to benefit Youth for Human Rights Florida.

The production was entertainingly unique, as the young performers love both the art of theater and the education of human rights; and the evening intertwined them both. A play written for children, filled with funny lines singing and dancing, it still carried a message of how children’s human rights can be so easily violated.
