Black Friday is the name given to the shopping day after Thanksgiving. This day marks the first day of the Christmas shopping season, and is a popular day for shopping since many people have the day off of work, and many stores offer wonderful sales.
The term “Black Friday” refers to the accounting practice of marking negative amounts in red ink, and positive amounts in black ink. It is supposedly such a lucrative day for retailers it makes their books go from “in the red” to “in the black,” hence the term, “Black Friday.”

The Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 took place in Clearwater on November 14th, challenging the passion, determination and endurance of 1,438 triathletes competing for a $90,000 purse. To compete in the event, triathletes first had to qualify in one of more than 30 Ironman 70.3’s held around the world.

Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 Will Take Place in Clearwater
One of the St. Pete/Clearwater area’s most popular events returns this weekend with more than 1,600 athletes testing the limits of fatigue and fortitude. Presented by Ford, the 2009 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 takes place Saturday, November 14, with participants swimming, biking and running 70.3 miles through Clearwater and its surrounding areas.
Ironman Road Closures and Traffic Information
Pinellas County traffic will be impacted by the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 on Saturday, November 14th – race day.
Throughout the county, many lane and road closures for the Ironman races will begin at 5 a.m., however Clearwater Beach road closures will begin at 3 a.m., and drivers will not be permitted to travel south of the roundabout due to closures on Coronado Drive and South Gulfview Boulevard.

The Color Purple North American Tour Will Come to Ruth Eckerd Hall Nov 24 - 29
The North American tour of The Color Purple: The Musical About Love, produced by Oprah Winfrey and Scott Sanders, will come to Ruth Eckerd Hall for eight performances. The Color Purple will run from November 24th to November 29th.
